It’s Black and White!, a new show at The Associates Gallery, opens March 29, 2016
The Associates Gallery will feature two member artists in It’s Black and White! starting March 29 in a complementary scheme of black and white rendered in two-dimensional and three-dimensional work.
Bev Andrews is a ceramic artist known particularly for her black and white raku vessels. The black color results from carbon produced in the firing process and the white is the natural color of the fired clay. “Although many of my vessels are strikingly bold, I find the black and white contrast peaceful,” says Bev. In addition to raku, Bev uses a number of other firing techniques to produce a diverse array of pottery.
Jo Ann Tooley is a fine art photographer who specializes in the black and white film medium. Work for this show includes prints made from old, 35 mm negatives depicting early morning scenes from rural West Virginia, clouded by fog.
Come meet the artists! Bev and Jo Ann will be in the studio on Sunday, April 3 from 4-6pm to talk more about their broad range of work.
