The Hand Speaks, a new show at The Associates Gallery, opens April 26, 2016
The Associates Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art Center is proud to present work of Kara Hammond and Drew Parris in an exhibit entitled: “The Hand Speaks.”
Beyond what each artist possesses in their innate mastery of the craft of drawing, these artists’ work exhibits an ability to take the simplest of materials – pencil, ink, and paper – to create singular instances of human presence, with a strong sense of beauty, wry humor, and emotional depth.
Recently juried into the Torpedo Factory, TAG newcomer Drew Parris is primarily self-taught in the medium of graphite drawing. His subjects often family and friends offering the viewer a unique emotional connection to his work. Kara Hammond will feature new ink wash drawings each a unique story unto themselves.
TAG also features the work of its 13 member artists, including painters, photographers and ceramic and fiber artists. The show will be on display until May 22, 2016.
