Materialized Magic: Mythical Creatures in a Yarn Artistry Habitat, CRAVE grant winner March 2015 would like to announce their exhibition opening date for June 25th, 2016 at the Arlington Arts Center. The show will run through till July 30th. On view will be large-scale fiber magical creatures by project leaders Stacy Cantrell and Torpedo Factory Artists’ Associate Erika Cleveland, within a magical environment.
The project involves the community in creating an environment made of yarn and wool for the magical creatures. Materials and instruction are free. We have been meeting regularly at the Target Gallery in the Torpedo Factory, at Convergence in Alexandria and at Upcycle, also in Alexandria. Many more workshops will be scheduled soon, including at the Arlington Arts Center. For information, check the Facebook page: Materialized Magic.
The next two meet ups are on Saturday, April 23rd, from 10:30-1:30 pm at Upcycle, then Thursday, May 5th from 6-9 pm at the Target Gallery.
CRAVE (Creating Resources for Artistic Vision and Engagement) is the only micro-granting dinner in the DMV designed to support creative projects inspired by the arts, to engage and benefit our local community. Crave is co-sponsored by the Torpedo Factory and Convergence.
