Freedom @ Mosaic
June 5 - August 4
As the nation’s 243rd birthday approaches, Torpedo Factory artists at the Mosaic Gallery in Merrifield reflect on what freedom means to them.
According to an old tune that soulful singer Janis Joplin used to belt out, freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. The Torpedo Factory artists participating in the Mosaic Gallery’s newest show have a lot more to say about freedom in an exhibit aptly titled “Freedom”. Examples of their artistic interpretations range from the independence of cats, to a couple doing the tango on Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., to the freedom of going on an voyage with nowhere in particular in mind.
The exhibit features juried artists from the highly acclaimed Torpedo Factory, representing a variety of mediums, including painting, printmaking, photography, and 3D media. Attached images are from photographer Jo Ann Tooley, printmaker Veronica Barker-Barzel and painter Mina Hanig.
“Freedom”, June 5 – August 4, Torpedo Factory Artists @ Mosaic, 105 District Avenue, Fairfax, Virginia. Open Wednesday thru Sunday 11 – 7.
The Torpedo Factory Artists @ Mosaic is a popup gallery sponsored by the Torpedo Factory Artists’ Association, and is located in the upscale Mosaic District shopping area in Fairfax, Va.
