The artist community at the Torpedo Factory Art Center mourns the recent loss of longtime member, sculptor Robert (Bob) Rosselle. Bob worked at the Torpedo Factory in Studio 311 from 1975 to 2015. A self-taught ceramic sculptor, Bob worked with stoneware and porcelain clay. He utilized a coil method of layering the clay to hand-build his vessels. The curious viewer with the presence of mind to look beyond the obvious is rewarded with miniature fantasy worlds captured inside each vessel.
Influenced by Greek and African art, Bob was invited all over the world to share his unique technique in such countries as China, India, Kenya, New Zealand and South Korea.
His magical and intriguing sculptures inspire all who see them. The Associate Gallery (TAG) honors visionary artist Bob Rosselle in our opening show in Studio 311. Some of Bob’s work will be on display for the duration of our exhibition.
TAG is managed by juried Associate Members of the Torpedo Factory Artists’ Association. Formed in January, TAG previously featured monthly exhibits showcasing a variety of media in Gallery 319.
