TFAA Support for the Old Town BID

The City of Alexandria is stepping onto a new stage in its history. There is an opportunity for those who have benefited from the amazing resources and community of this place to invest in growing sustainable and inclusive opportunities for the future. Alexandria’s greatest strength is not merely location or history, but its people.

If we wait for better opportunities to be handed to us, we squander the potential of what we can make happen together. The Torpedo Factory Artists’ Association was founded on this principle and is eager to join with our friends and neighbors to ensure that Alexandria continues to be a dynamic place to live and work. The Old Town BID is one such opportunity.

The burden on commercial property holders is a real and serious concern and my belief is that under the current proposition, voting and representation in the BID governance and decisions on spending will be equitable. Ensuring that the structure of a Business Improvement District is fair and representative of all our Old Town businesses will be critical and ongoing work, but the Artists’ Association sees the Old Town BID as an opportunity to build a shared vision that will ultimately benefit us all.
